In the field of research in journalism, public relations and publishing FJMC maintain continuous cooperation with similar institutes from European countries. In cooperation with the School of Journalism, Lille, France in the last five years Prof. Milko Petrov and Dr. Zdravka Konstantinova have published studies in the French journal "Les Cahiers de journalisme ". Projects between the two institutions are developed annually since 1995.
The Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication cooperates with DAAD - Germany Academic Exchange Service, in an exchange of personnel between Bulgaria and Germany. Teachers participate in competitions in research projects. The Faculty is working on joint projects with the Foundation of St. St. Cyril and Methodius for academic. Professors from the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication are speakers in a joint masters course of the Center for German and European Studies Germanicum - a joint program between the Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski" and the Technical University - Dresden.
FJMC is a partner in EU project Leonardo da Vinci, together with Deutsche Horfunkakademie - Dortmund (2004). The project aims to establish training needs for journalists working in local radio and television stations in the online environment.
FJMC has a strong partnership with EJTA. The European Journalism Training Association works to improve journalism education in Europe and to stimulate European co-operation in journalism education. The Association organizes conferences and seminars to encourage discussion about the important questions of the journalistic profession and its training problems. EJTA organises research at a European level on important issues in journalism. The association stimulates long and medium term exchanges of students and lecturers.EJTA represents its members and defends their interests in contacts with institutional partners, such as the European Commission, UNESCO, and associations of journalists and editors.
