A student national dance was part of the official opening of the new park area in front of block 52. Guests of the event were the Rector, Prof. Ivan Ilchev, his assistant Kalin Stanukov, engineer, and Mr. Petko Goranov, the executive director of Accommodation and Catering.
The national goalball (a team sport designed for blind athletes) team, which consists basically of the University team Vitosha, took the bronze. The European goalball championship took place from 23th to 28th May 2009.
