On May 10, 2025, the first-ever Sustainability Olympics in Bulgaria – SDG Olympics 2025 – was held under the Visual Science Center “Kaleidoscope” dome in Knyazheska Garden, Sofia. The event was organized by the FEB Foundation and ESG Lab – a teaching and research laboratory at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" in partnership with the Visual Science Center "Kaleidoscope" and as part of the LUNAR Light Festival.

The Olympics introduced an innovative competitive format, immersing participants in real-world sustainability challenges through interactive simulation. Through strategic choices, practical cases, and collaboration, the teams explored the complex interconnections between the social, economic, and environmental aspects of the modern world.

Student teams from the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Sofia University, the University of Mining and Geology "St. Ivan Rilski", New Bulgarian University, and the University of National and World Economy participated in the competition. Also involved were the Association of Sustainability Professionals, representatives of responsible businesses, including a team from Melexis Bulgaria, as well as journalists from leading Bulgarian media.

The winners were announced during the official ceremony at 7:00 p.m. The team from the University of Mining and Geology won first place, Melexis Bulgaria took second place, and the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Sofia University secured third place. The winners' prize was provided by Hewlett Packard Enterprise Bulgaria.

Special awards were also presented:

  • "Perfect SDG Balance" – Melexis Bulgaria
  • "Uncompromisingly Principled World" – New Bulgarian University
  • "Sustainably Utilized Resources" – Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Sofia University

The SDG Olympics 2025 marked an important step towards promoting the topic of sustainable development through educational innovation and the active involvement of young people, experts, and media.
