In a festive atmosphere, the Department of Business Administration at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” awarded certificates of academic excellence to its students.

The ceremony took place on 20 November, on the eve of the patron day of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski,” and under the sign of the 35th anniversary of the restoration of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration. The event became a celebration of effort, perseverance, and the pursuit of knowledge—values that are an essential part of the Faculty’s academic community.

For their achievements, the students received a certificate and a book—symbols of knowledge and growth. The awards were presented by Assoc. Prof. Ivanka Mihaylova, PhD, chair of the ceremony’s organizing committee.

“Attitude is what sets us apart. Since you are here, it means you are people with attitude. And I want to congratulate you for that!” emphasized Assoc. Prof. Mihaylova in her address. She extended her congratulations to the parents, relatives, and friends of the awarded students for the attitude they had instilled in them through personal example and support, as well as to the lecturers who contributed to its further development throughout the learning process.

The Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Assoc. Prof. Atanas Georgiev, PhD, delivered an inspiring message to the students. He highlighted that in the dynamic environment of our time, the most important thing is not merely to catch up, but to build upon—through perseverance, character, and courage. He encouraged the awardees to take full advantage of the opportunities offered by the Faculty and urged them to seek recognition not only within the University, but also beyond it. “Books and knowledge go hand in hand with success,” he noted, addressing the families with a message about continuity and care for knowledge.

On behalf of the awardees, Nursen Suleiman—a fourth-year student with a perfect GPA of 6.00—delivered a powerful and deeply personal speech. She shared that it is precisely in moments like these that one realizes their efforts have been meaningful—sometimes even more than expected. She recalled her first-year coursework, titled “My Four Years at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration,” and noted that the academic journey is built of steps that may sometimes seem small but lead to major changes. “Dreams must be enormous, almost unbelievable; otherwise, they are just a plan for tomorrow,” she said, encouraging younger students to be bold, creative, and true to themselves.
