On April 30, third-year undergraduate students majoring in “Economics and Finance” and “Business Administration” as part of the course “Customs Representation and Customs Control” taught by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tsvetan Madanski, conducted practical training at the offices of “Dimex Logistic” Ltd., a customs representative company managed by Mr. Dimitar Baltakov.
Ms. Stefka Hristova, Operations Manager, introduced the students to the company’s functions, tasks, and workflow procedures. In real time, documents were completed and submitted to the competent customs authority for placing goods under the “Release for Free Circulation” procedure—specifically new Fiat and Citroën vehicles manufactured in the Republic of Serbia.
The students also visited a customs warehouse for the storage of all types of goods (excluding weapons and excise goods). They were thoroughly familiarized with the requirements for obtaining authorization for a customs warehouse, the methods of storing different types of goods, and the permitted storage periods.
In the context of globalization and a changing international environment, customs authorities, together with customs representatives, play a key role in ensuring the security of supply chains. The independent positioning of customs representatives as an element of international trade chains is also important for the customs control system itself.
Customs administrations are interested in working with reliable and trustworthy partners who meet, to a high degree, the requirements for legality in the conduct of foreign trade operations. The highly engaging and useful practical sessions addressed issues related to the rights and obligations of the entities involved in the customs process, the provision of information, and the types of representation—direct and indirect.
The presentation was followed by an engaging discussion that lasted more than an hour.
