On October 7, 2025, a meeting took place between second-year students of the Economics and Finance program and Prof. Dr. Obidjon Khamidov, Rector of Bukhara State University, Uzbekistan. The event was also attended by Prof. Dr. Madlen Danova, Vice-Rector of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Georgiev, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dimitar Zlatinov, Vice-Dean and Head of the Department of Economics; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tsvetan Madanski, Head of the Master’s Program “Customs and Tax Control”.
As the host of the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Georgiev highlighted the existing ties between the two universities and the opportunities for deepening cooperation and student exchange. Prof. Dr. Madlen Danova emphasized Sofia University’s successful experience in developing a joint educational program with Bukhara State University within the Faculty of Classical and Modern Philology.
Prof. Dr. Obidjon Khamidov introduced the students from the Economics and Finance program to current aspects of Uzbekistan’s economic development, the government’s policies on attracting foreign investment, and the country’s tourism potential. During the discussion, Prof. Khamidov answered questions from the students of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration regarding the relations between Bulgaria and Uzbekistan and the opportunities for their further strengthening.
