On May 12, 2026, students from the Bachelor’s programme “International Trade and Investment” at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” attended a guest lecture entitled “AmCham Bulgaria – Profile, Portfolio 2025, Events 2026”, held as part of the Macroeconomics course.
The special guest lecturer was Mr. Daniel Kiryakov, Communications & Public Affairs Manager at AmCham Bulgaria.
During the lecture, students were introduced to the activities, structure, and role of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria as one of the leading business organizations in the country, bringing together international and Bulgarian companies from key economic sectors. The main areas of the organization’s work, its priorities for 2025–2026, and its contribution to the development of the business environment, investments, and transatlantic economic relations between Bulgaria and the United States were presented.
As part of the meeting, Mr. Kiryakov also outlined the main trends in the transatlantic economy in 2026, as well as current developments in trade and investment relations between Bulgaria and the United States. Special emphasis was placed on the role of business organizations in public policy processes, improving the investment climate, and fostering a competitive economy.
The students were also introduced in detail to the priority areas of AmCham Bulgaria, the organizational development of the Chamber, and the activities of its committees and working groups. Among the topics discussed were:
- the development of the healthcare sector and the activities of the Healthcare Committee;
- energy policy and sustainable development through the Energy and Mineral Resources Committee;
- Policy and Advocacy processes and the participation of businesses in public policy-making;
- digitalisation, innovation, and human capital development;
- education and the relationship between universities and business;
- corporate social responsibility and communication strategies in the contemporary business environment.
The activities of AmCham Bulgaria’s communications and CSR working groups were also presented, together with various initiatives related to education, leadership, sustainable development, and partnerships between the business sector and academic institutions.
The guest lecture generated strong interest among the students and concluded with a discussion on topics related to the investment climate in Bulgaria, the role of international companies in the economy, and the need for closer cooperation between business and higher education institutions.
