Between September 29–30, 2025, the International Conference on Sustainable Business and Technology took place at the American University in Cairo (AUC), Egypt. The event was organised by the EuroMid Academy of Business and Technology and the Onsi Sawiris School of Business. It brought together leading scholars, researchers, and experts from various countries to exchange ideas and best practices in the fields of sustainable development, technology, innovation, and education.
The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA) of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” was represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marina Stefanova, Vice-Dean for Sustainability, Empowerment and Engagement, and Boyan Zahariev from the ESG Lab, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration.
Assoc. Prof. Stefanova presented a joint research paper with Boyan Zahariev titled “Consumer Engagement as a Tool for Sustainable Consumption” as part of the session “Innovation and Sustainability Across Technology, Education, and Business”. The paper explores the role of consumer participation as a tool for promoting sustainable consumption models and will be published in one of the indexed international scientific journals partnering with the conference.
Among the topics discussed during the forum were innovative approaches to higher education management, the ethical dimensions of technological development, and the integration between academia, industry, and sustainability policies.
During their stay in Cairo, the Sofia University delegates held a series of meetings with representatives from academic institutions, business, and the public sector, aimed at developing academic and professional partnerships and exchanging best practices in sustainability and ESG management. The visits included meetings with institutions and organizations such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, the Federation of Egyptian Industries, Suez Canal University, and private multinational companies.
The participation of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration in the International Conference on Sustainable Business and Technology 2025 highlighted Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”’s active role in international academic and professional networks in the fields of sustainable development and corporate responsibility. The event and the accompanying meetings in Egypt contributed to strengthening scientific exchange and expanding cooperation between academia, business, and government institutions in a global context.
