On 6 June 2026, Ms. Detelina Karaeneva, Director of the National Fund Directorate at the Ministry of Finance, delivered a guest lecture to students enrolled in the Master’s Programme “Customs and Tax Control”.

Ms. Karaeneva is a long-standing expert at the Ministry of Finance with extensive professional experience in the management, control, and coordination of European Union funds. Her lecture, entitled “Control of European Union Funds”, attracted considerable interest among the students due to its relevance and practical significance.

The lecture addressed key issues related to the management and control system of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, financial correction mechanisms, the eligibility of funding under shared management programmes financed by EU funds, and the role of institutions in the processes of control and accountability.

Particular attention was devoted to the current status and stages of implementation of projects under the Recovery and Resilience Plan, as well as to future challenges related to the effective, transparent, and lawful management of European funds.

The lecture was delivered in a professional, accessible, and practice-oriented manner. At the end of the event, a productive discussion took place between the guest lecturer and the students, during which specific practical cases and issues related to the control of European Union funds were examined and discussed.
