The “CEO for a Day” initiative, organized by the Women in Business Council Bulgaria in partnership with Andrea Ikic-Böhm, brought together students and leading business executives for a second consecutive year, giving young people real insight into the corporate environment and strategic decision-making processes. Following the successful pilot edition, the program continued its mission to inspire and support the next generation of professionals through hands-on experience and meetings with established leaders.
Among this year’s mentors was once again Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marina Stefanova, who joined the initiative for a second year to share her professional and personal experience with the young participants. As part of the program, she mentored Ani Marinova, a second-year student at the University of National and World Economy majoring in Human Resources Economics.
Ani and Assoc. Prof. Stefanova’s day began with participation in the Annual Meeting of the Diversity Charter Bulgaria — an event dedicated to sustainable leadership, social responsibility, and inclusion in the modern workplace. The discussions and shared best practices emphasized the role of business as a driver of positive social change.
Later, the two visited the Sofia Science Festival at the John Atanasov School, where they took part in educational initiatives focused on topics such as recycling, sustainable development, and the circular economy. Their interaction with students and the active dialogue on these issues highlighted the importance of early education and fostering socially responsible thinking from a young age.
One of the most valuable moments for Ani Marinova was her personal conversation with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marina Stefanova. In an informal setting, the two discussed professional development, the challenges of leadership, and the importance of sustainable business solutions. Assoc. Prof. Stefanova shared her own experience, the difficulties she encountered throughout her career, and the lessons she had learned over the years — a conversation that left a strong impression on and inspired the young student.
The day concluded with participation in the annual B2B Media awards ceremony, where Assoc. Prof. Stefanova served as a jury member. Ani Marinova had the opportunity to accompany her mentor during the official ceremony and participate in presenting awards in two categories. The event provided yet another valuable perspective on the importance of leadership, good business practices, and support for sustainable and innovative projects.
Participating in “CEO for a Day” left Ani Marinova not only with valuable practical experience, but also with even stronger motivation to develop professionally in the fields of human resources, corporate culture, and mediation.
