The Institute for Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Technology (INSAIT) at Sofia University ranks 1st in Eastern Europe and 4th in EU by number of accepted papers at the world’s most prestigious conference in computer vision and AI. The Bulgarian research institute has 17 accepted papers at CVPR 2026, one of the most significant events in the field of AI globally.
The institute has surpassed universities such as Cambridge, Princeton, and Yale, as well as all institutions in Sweden, Finland, Israel, France, the Netherlands, and Spain. In addition to the 17 papers in the main conference track, INSAIT has one oral presentation - a distinction awarded to barely 3.5% of the accepted papers. The institute, which is part of Sofia University, also has three papers accepted to the newly established Findings track, bringing the total number of accepted papers to 20. The institute is also co-organizing two international workshops and two international challenges as part of the conference.
INSAIT’s accepted works span some of the most important areas of AI at the moment, including robotics, spatial reasoning, ego-centric vision, earth observation, visual agents, and agentic vision.
CVPR annually brings together the world’s leading researchers and tech companies in computer vision and AI. The 2026 edition is taking place in Denver, USA, and is expected to attract more than 10 000 participants.
This marks INSAIT’s strongest participation at CVPR to date. With an acceptance rate of around 25%, CVPR is one of the most competitive AI conferences in the world, making this achievement a further testament to INSAIT’s growing position as one of Europe’s leading AI research institutions.
