Total area: 5 decares, greenhouses: 500 mІ; plant collections: over 1500 species. The Greenhouse reveals the splendour of the tropics – orchids, ferns, bromelias. The Garden has a wonderful collection of cacti species, peonies, clematises, and bulbous plants in addition to the great variety of trees and bushes. The University Botanic Garden, Sofia was founded in 1892 by the first Bulgarian professor in botany Prof. Stefan Georgiev. It is a member of the Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI).

Total Area: 196 decares, of which: 61 decares of park area; a garden of 11 decares adapted for disabled visitors; a greenhouse of 500 square meters. The Botanic Garden is specialized in the growing of collections of tropical and subtropical exotic plants. It is famous for its collection of succulents and cacti, which includes around 600 species, and the outdoor exposition of large size cacti and succulents spread over 1 decare is the second botanic garden of this type in Europe, the only one similar is based in Monaco. The total number of plant species in all collections is around 3000. The garden is a national centre for rare and endangered species under the Washington Convention. It is a member of the World Council of the Botanic Gardens, member of the European Network for Training and Ecology in the Botanic Gardens, and has been awarded the “Saint Cyril and Saint Methodius” II Degree Order.
The garden was created in 1955 under the guidance of Professor D. Yordanov and the efficient management of N. Minchev. The facilities for disabled people were opened in 2005.

Total area: 360 decares. The Botanic garden is designed as an eco park achieving harmony between natural and artificial ecosystems. The collection of trees and bushes includes over 300 species. The herbaceous plants are about 350 species, 260 Iris varieties are grown in the garden.
The Botanic garden was founded in 1977. It has facilities for accommodation, research and rehabilitation for 120 people.
