Students from the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Sofia University have the opportunity to participate in the international ULMA Economic Workshop (ULMA-EW), organized by Ulm University.

ULMA-EW is an international educational program with a research focus in the fields of economics and data analysis, bringing together students from different countries. Participation is free of charge, while teaching and academic supervision are provided by lecturers and researchers from Ulm University.

During the program, students will work on:

  • empirical economic research;
  • data processing and analysis;
  • the use of R, GitHub, Zoom, Discord, and artificial intelligence tools for academic research;
  • verification and validation of research results.

Following an online preparation phase via Moodle, participants will attend a three-day on-site training at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration between September and October 2026, followed by an international collaborative research phase together with students from Ulm University.

The Faculty will nominate between 4 and 6 students from Master’s programs in economics, finance, data analysis, business analytics, and related fields.

  • Online preparation via Moodle: 3 August – 13 September 2026
  • Three-day on-site training: 14 September – 30 October 2026
  • International collaborative research phase: October 2026 – January 2027
  • Final presentations: January 2027
  • Application deadline: 30 June 2026

The ULMA Economic Olympiad will also take place on 6 November 2026. Scholarships are planned for outstanding students, who will be invited to Ulm for an international three-day event.
