A new Control Committee and Academic Council were also elected. The first stage was to elect a Chair and a Deputy Chair of the Assembly. Prof. Ivan Ilchev presented his report on the activity of the University during the last four years. Part of the achievements was the increased number of Master Degree students and Doctoral Degree students, tens of successfully funded project at national and international level, the SUSI system introduction, the first place of Sofia University in 22 (of 24) areas, redecorated buildings and newly equipped labs and halls, among the others.

Next, the elected Chair of the Assembly Assoc. Prof. Petar Delev gave the floor to the candidates to present in brief their platforms, available online: Prof. Bozhidar Angelov, Prof. Valery Stefanov, Prof. Ilchev and Prof. Slavejkov. They answered questions from the Assembly. The results of the second vote were in favour of Prof. Ilchev, 233 vs Prof. Slavejkov, 125. Thus Prof. Ilchev was elected for a second mandate.

The election for members of the Academic Council is to be held on 18th. November.
