This year's Readings mark the 80th anniversary of the sanctification of the memorial dedicated to Prof. Dragomanov. The idea about the sculpture was issued in 1931, initiated by several Ukrainian associations, lecturers and students of Sofia University, scientists of the Bulgarian Acedmy of Sciences and a year later it was a fact. H.E. Aleksandra Shuhen, the first Ambassador of Ukraine in Bulgaria, was among the officials to attend the celebrations then. Today, H.E. Mykola Baltadzhy, ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Ukraine in Bulgaria was among the official guests of the readings. He reminded of the expression "the salt of the earth" which had been used through ages to acknowledge the deeds of people such as Prof. Dragomanov.
