The Cultural Centre of Sofia University and the Sofia City Art Gallery present Aquarium: art pieces from the gallery fund "Contemporary Art".
This is the firts collaborative project between the gallery and Sofia University which seeks to promote contemporary art. The exhibition views the aquarium as a model of the world. The idea stems from the very sight of the exhibition being a place with glass exhibition windows from the one hand, and from the other comes from the understanding of an academic institution as an incubator of life processes.
Th exhibition presents some of the most well-known contemporary Bulgarian artists such as Sasho Stoitsov, Mariela Gemisheva, Kassimir Terziev, Michaela Vlaseva, Adelina Popnedeleva, Nadezhda Oleg Lyahova, Ivan Kostolov, Rasim, etc. The works research on the human image in its integration within the environment. The exhibition presents the modern tendencies in the contemporary art through original and socially engaged works.
The gallery works with young artists and art critics, developing special programmes for their integration in the art processes. Thus the collaboration with Sofia University is interesting and fruitful.
