H. E. Emil Karimov, Ambassador of Azerbaijan, Prof. Asif Hajiyev – Vice-rector on Study, Baku Slavic University, and Sofia Shigaeva, Director of the Centre for Bulgarian Studies with Baku Slavic University paid an official visit at Sofia University.

The visit is part of the series of official visits in relation to further development of Bulgaria - Azerbaijan relations. Prof. Ivan Ilchev, Sofia University Rector paid an official visit in Baku last year. H. E. Emil Karimov visited Sofia University for the first time on 5th December, 2012.

One of the main themes discussed during the meetings was the establishment of Centre of Azerbaijani Culture and Language as part of the Faculty of Classical and Modern Philology, Sofia University.
