On November 9 and 10, the Sixth National Mediation Competition for university students was held in the "Preslav" Hall of the Hemus Hotel, traditionally organized by the Dispute Resolution Center.

The competition featured 20 teams from over 15 different academic fields at universities in Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, and Veliko Tarnovo. Students were able to engage in real-life dispute resolution scenarios, showcasing their negotiation skills, ability to present and defend positions, and competence in conducting mediation procedures.

This year, the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA) was represented by two teams:

Team 1:

  • Yoana Antonova, Business Administration, 3rd year, role: client.
  • Mira Emilova, Business Administration, 3rd year, role: lawyer.
  • Katya Nikolova, Economics and Finance, 3rd year, role: mediator.

Team 2:

  • Ivet Aneva, Business Administration, 2nd year, role: client.
  • Slavena Dudrenova, Business Administration, 3rd year, role: lawyer.
  • Kalina Ilieva, Business Administration, 2nd year, role: mediator.

The teams were coached by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivanka Mihaylova, a lecturer in the Department of Business Administration and head of the Master’s Program in Human Resources Management and Development, and Ivanna Korencheva, a 4th-year Business Administration student and a participant in the Fourth and Fifth National Mediation Competitions for students.

The coaching team and competitors from FEBA at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” once again claimed first places, affirming their consistent leadership. Through successfully conducted mediation simulations, they achieved the following distinctions:

  • First Place in the "Client" Category: Yoana Antonova.
  • First Place in the "Lawyer" Category: Mira Emilova.
  • First Place in the "Team" Category: Yoana Antonova, Mira Emilova, and Katya Nikolova.
  • First Place in the "Coach" Category: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivanka Mihaylova and Ivanna Korencheva.

All students and their coaches received certificates for outstanding participation. With their impressive achievements in the competition, the students from FEBA not only reinforced the tradition of excellence in mediation at the faculty but also demonstrated that the knowledge and skills acquired during their studies are effectively applied in real-life situations.

Upon their return from the competition, the coaches and students from FEBA were welcomed and congratulated by the Dean - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Georgiev, and proudly displayed their awards in the Showcase of Glory.
