As part of the annual International Conference of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, which this year was held under the theme "Transforming Futures: Sustainability, Innovation, and Governance – 2024," Bulgaria’s first-ever SDG Game was organized. The event took place on November 22 and was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marina Stefanova, Vice-Dean for Sustainability, Empowerment, and Engagement. The game was facilitated by Alice Richard, one of the certified trainers for Europe. Students from Sofia University participated in the game with the support of the Karoll Foundation, DSK Bank AD, and HPE.
Nearly 40 students from various disciplines and representatives of responsible businesses across the country joined the game. In just one hour, the teams had the opportunity to collaboratively create a more sustainable future. By implementing different projects and achieving pre-set goals, they struck a relative balance as they envisioned the year 2030. The game simulates real-world problems while allowing participants to engage in co-creating sustainable development designs. This process addresses complex questions in an accessible way, encouraging players to proactively strive towards their goals while building confidence and motivating them to take action in the real world.
The 2030 SDG Game was created in Japan in 2016. It has become a powerful and impactful social phenomenon in Japan, with over 350,000 participants worldwide to date.
For those who missed the opportunity to participate, a second edition of the 2030 SDG Game is planned for the spring of 2025, once again at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration.
