25.11.2024

The first public debate on the topic "For or Against the Introduction of Quotas in Company Boards" was held at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration on November 21, 2024. This series of events is organized in partnership with the Trust for Social Achievement (TSA).

Participants in the debate were students from the master’s program "Responsible and Sustainable Governance". Their preparation was led by Trendafil Meretev, a long-time chairperson of the National Debate Association. Over three weeks, Mr. Meretev introduced the students to the rules of classical debates and helped them structure their arguments on the topic.

The event was officially opened by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marina Stefanova, Vice-Dean for "Sustainability, Empowerment, and Engagement". Among the special guests was Mr. Alfons Gracher, CEO and COO of “Gracher Kredit und Kautionsmakler GmbH und Co.”, whose support enabled the renovation of the debate hall where the event was hosted. Petya Gulamali, a member of the TSA team, also addressed the participants, emphasizing the significance of the topic for the Trust.

The debate featured two teams – the Affirmative and the Negative – who presented structured arguments "FOR" and "AGAINST" the topic and actively engaged in a "cross-examination" segment. The audience also had the opportunity to share their opinions on the matter and determine which team performed better in their presentation.
