On June 3, 2024, the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA) at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" became a full member of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). The membership was officially confirmed by the EFMD's relevant committee. The full membership of FEBA, Sofia University was ratified by the EFMD General Assembly on 10 June 2024 in Bologna, Italy. FEBA's Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Georgiev attended the event as a full member of EFMD for the first time.
Founded in 1972, the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) is a network of business schools and corporations dedicated to enhancing excellence in management education and development globally. With a network of 30,000 management professionals from academia, business, public service, and consultancies, EFMD plays a central role in shaping the global approach to management education and provides a unique forum for information, research, networking, and debate on innovation and best practices. The organization is responsible for the management of the EFMD Quality Improvement System (EQUIS), an international system of assessment and accreditation.
This new distinction for the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration offers students a more productive learning experience and better career opportunities. EFMD prioritizes supporting its members, facilitating the exchange of best practices, and providing an environment for development and growth. By emphasizing educational standards for management education, EFMD brings companies and academic institutions together, facilitating connections and data exchange between them.
With the official membership of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration in EFMD, our students, alumni, as well as teaching and administrative staff, will gain free access to a wide range of learning opportunities, professional development, and a network of new contacts.
EFMD also organizes Virtual Fairs and a job fair for PhDs in Business and Management and provides access to publications, international projects, different accreditation and certification systems, case writing and doctoral research awards.
The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" is the first internationally accredited higher business school in Bulgaria by AMBA. Currently, the faculty is the only member of the AACSB network and the first business school to join GBSN. FEBA is also a member of the PRME initiative and the UN Global Compact, as well as regional European networks for business education. Our international accreditation and certification partners include ACCA, ICAEW, CFA Institute, and the International Atomic Energy Agency, while our network of corporate and institutional partners includes leading public, non-governmental, and business organizations. With the new membership in the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), the FEBA reaffirms its mission to provide students with opportunities for development at an international level and to attract foreign students and scholars to Bulgaria.
