A n n o t a t i o n :

The Master’s degree programme (LLM) on EU Private Relationships with Cross-Border Implications (EUPRCBI) aims deepening as well as perfecting of the knowledge and rising thereon of the qualification of those who hold a bachelor end/or master degree and already have some expertise in the matter, i.e. graduates from Law, International Relations and International Economic Relations. The term of study for such graduates is three semesters.

The Programme offers also an opportunity for graduates from other specialities (LLB and/or LLM) who have certain expertise in studying law during their education. The term of study for them is four semesters. They firstly should take six general courses of lectures. The three- and four semester LLM students are obliged to follow same special courses of lectures. The compulsory minimal number of optional courses of lectures is four.

The foreign languages education is provided for three- as well as for four semester LLM students.

All LLM students prepare a diploma under the tutorship of a habilitated teacher from the Faculty of Law during the last semester of the education. The diploma (an LLM Thesis) is to be defended before the State Examination Commission.

The graduates of the Master’s degree programme (LLM) on EU Private Relationships with Cross-Border Implications (EUPRCBI) may apply for employment in Bulgaria as well as in other EU Member-States, in the Bodies and Institutions of the European Union, in state and private national as well as international institutions, in the non-governmental sector and the private practices.

The general compulsory courses for the four semester LLM students are the following: Theory of International Relations; History of International Relations; Public International Law; Private International Law; Theory of International Negotiations; Legal System of the European Union.

The compulsory courses for the three- and four semester LLM students are the following: Cooperation between the EU Member-States in Civil and Commercial Matters with Cross-Border Implications; International Jurisdiction in Civil and Commercial Matters with Cross-Border Implications (Brussels I and Brussels II “a” Regulations); Proceedings in Civil and Commercial Matters with Cross-Border Implications; Contractual Relationships (Rome I Regulation); Non-Contractual Relationships (Rome II Regulation); Maintenance Relationships (Regulation No 4/2009); Supranational Forms of Economic Cooperation in the EU; Insolvency (Regulation No 1346/2000); Intellectual Property in the EU; Transport Relationships in the EU; Social Law of the EU; Proceedings before the European Court of Justice; Recognition and Enforcement of Judgments and other Acts in the EU (Brussels I and Brussels II “a” Regulations); Alternative Proceedings for Recognition and Enforcement of Judgments and other Acts in the EU (Regulations No 805/2004, No 1896/2006 and No 861/2007); Non-State Sources (Soft Law) of the Law of Contracts; Pre-Diploma Project.

The optional courses for the three- and four semester education are as follows: International Economic Organizations; European Institutional Culture from the Antiquity till Today; Legal Regime of the International Investment; Information Law of the EU.
